About Me
My name is Chris Rankin, I am a qualified and fully accredited member of the IACP and I work from both a Integrative and Pluralistic perspective. I am fully insured for all formats of Psychotherapy being provided.
My passion is working Outdoors and I use the Phoenix Park as my 'office' and have a range of meeting points, generally to suit people with different modes of transport or entrances. I use the main Chesterfield Avenue as a main walkway for people who prefer a straight back and forward walk. I use some of the paths and grass areas for people who like the earth underneath their feet and I also use a lot of forestry for soaking in the smells of the forest, trees and leaves. I do some chair work in the forest or water areas during the warmer months for people who have found it easier to sit still with any emotional turbulence or tension.
I work In-Person in Ballyfermot and as this is a secondary format I am limited to two evenings, Tuesday and Friday, generally from 3pm to 9pm. This timeframe can change depending on peoples needs when booking. People tend to be more used to this format, we see it on tv and generally when people talk about therapy it is in a room context. This format is very helpful for people who like to sit with the person they are working with and like the close presence of the therapist.
I also do a small amount Online and this is generally for people who are not able to make it to either location or are on the waiting list for another format and need to work straightaway. People have availed of this format from other Counties across Ireland and other European countries like the from as far as Brazil, Czech Republic, Germany and Belgium. People have also availed of this format when needing to travel and still need to continue with therapy. Some people prefer this format when finding it very uncomfortable leaving their home or they just like the easier logging in without the need to travel.
I am a Pluralistic Psychotherapist which means I like the person I am working with to be as involved with how we use therapy, us both deciding what way I work with you, how directive or silent you need me to be, measuring our progress from definable goals from the beginning. This way of working has been shown to have very positive results and works in favour of numerous rewards of therapy.
